The Worst Day of the Year in Boston

At the beginning of this month, I experienced one of the most stressful move-in of my life on September 1st. We had my mom’s Toyota Rav4 to work with and a bunch of furniture to move from my apartment on Columbus to my new one on Westland. So we packed up the first load and headed to the new place, only to find out that they were still cleaning the apartment due to how gross it was from the previous tenants. Fast forward to two hours later and NOW we begin moving in my stuff slowly into the apartment. And by “we” I mean me moving everything up 2 flights up stairs while I make my mom guard the stuff in the car because I felt bad making her do so much labor. Once the first trip was completed, I headed back with the car to do a second load- where my friend Troy helped to load the mattress and fill up the car (thank goodness I had him!). Driving with a mattress on top of the car in Boston is kind of a terrifying thing to do but I can officially check it off my list of experiences! Luckily we made it back in one piece and we moved everything in the second load up! Mind you it was now around 7PM and I had picked up my keys at 3PM. Finally, we had ONE MORE trip to make and luckily it wasn’t too much of hassle. A word of advice if if you plan on driving in Boston on September 1st, don’t. The roads are riddled with traffic anywhere you go and it is nearly impossible to get a parking spot in a city that already struggles to have enough parking as it is. But alas, we finished the 3rd and final trip and now I could finally start unpacking. I probably slept at 4AM that next morning because I was so set on finishing up my room but it was so worth it because the hard part was over. Hopefully this will be my last move for a while!
