I’ll be eating curry for a week

New Semester means a new apartment, and that means cooking my own meals again. With classes starting, I thought it would be best to try and prepare some food for the next few days. This way, I wouldn’t have to think too much about what to eat after classes. With that in mind, I decided that one of the first meals I would prep is Japanese curry. So at the store, I bought some vegetables, chicken, and two boxes of golden curry. Following the instructions on the box, I sliced an onion, 2 big potatoes, 3 carrots, and some chicken thighs. I thought this would be enough food for about 3 days, just to get me to the weekend. After putting it all in my pot to start cooking, I immediately realized it was a lot more food than I anticipated.

The vegetables and meat reached almost the top of my pot leaving less than an inch of space before it spilled. I made sure I didn’t spill the ingredients out of the pot as I stir-fried everything together. Next, I had to boil the ingredients and the amount of room in the pot for water had me stressed. I hadn’t exactly thought to measure how much water to put in my pot and I poured water in until it just covered everything inside.

I let my pot simmer for 15 minutes and then it was time to add the curry blocks. Mixing in one whole box and tasting my curry, it was a little watered down and not very thick. I decided to slowly add my second box till it tasted right and was the correct consistency. I knew this was going to be too much food. Eventually, I was able to make enough curry to eat for a week.
