Test Stresses

Am I the only one that stresses so much before a test to the point where I ignore everything else around me and contemplate my life choices, only to become the happiest person ever right after it’s over? This is such a big problem for me, even though I know I studied enough and probably will get a good grade. This just happened to me today, for an Intro to Psychology test of all subjects. It is such an easy subject that is easy to get an A in with minimal studying, and I know that. However, just the fact that a test is a test scares me, regardless of how easy it is or can be. On top of this, I have five tests for psychology this semester, so why am I stressing so much? I can never answer this question. I cannot even begin to imagine what big midterms and finals for microbiology and biostatistics will do to my mental health, and don’t even want to think about it.

I have been looking for a solution to this problem for years, and still have not come up with a good one. My best advice for people that are in the same situation as me is to just study in increments weeks in advance to really get the information to stick. Do not wait until the last minute, and the night before the test, do over everything briefly and get a good night’s sleep. Listen to calming music the morning of, eat a good breakfast, and just relax. I have come to the conclusion that even if the test ends up going horribly, it won’t be the end of the world. Honestly, though, my advice might not be that credible since I still have severe nervousness issues right before tests. Everyone has their own ways of preparing and coping with test stresses. Hopefully, I find a way to fix my problems with it.
