My oldest brother, Alex, only sees me as an eight-year-old in his dreams.
He turns 30 this year; he’s ten years older than me and six years older than my other brother, Anthony. Since graduating high school in 2011, he’s rarely been around. He went to his dream school, NYU Tisch, to pursue his dreams, studying film and photography. After graduating in 2015, he stayed in NYC, only visiting occasionally. After a few years, he moved to China to study acting and has lived there ever since.
Since I was eight years old, I’ve hardly spent any time with Alex save one or two family vacations. This year, after China ultimately lowered some of its COVID restrictions, he is able to plan a trip back to the US. Finally! After years and years, he’s finally back. He will be staying here for three weeks before he returns to China.
I’m excited to spend time together with my family again. Perhaps after this visit to the US dream me can finally catch up to real me for my brother.
