Spring Shabu Shabu is an all-you-can-eat hotpot restaurant located in Brighton, MA.
The store’s popularity is undeniable; my friends and I went on a Saturday night and we waited around an hour and a half. While the wait may make you grimace and grumble as you stand in the cold parking lot, the food is worth it. In my opinion, the star of the show is the matcha and vanilla ice-cream machine located in the middle of the restaurant. With just the pull of a lever, you can have as many matcha ice-cream cones as your heart desires. It’s so much better compared to the ice-cream machines at our school’s dining hall.
The assortments of greens, fishcakes, noodles, and sauces will make your jaw drop. Sometimes the choices get overwhelming since you only have so much space in your stomach. The variety of noodles makes my heart flutter– I love noodles. They have ramen noodles, udon noodles, hand-cut noodles, etc. They also have so many vegetable choices so if you’d like to eat a little healthy, you definitely have the option to. I really recommend the baby bok choy!
Here’s the recipe to my hotpot dipping sauce:
- a good amount of sesame sauce
- LOTS of garlic (your breath will smell like garlic for two days but I promise it’s so worth it (I think))
- green onions
- chili oil
- just a smidge of oyster sauce
- a lil bit of soy sauce
I like to sometimes mix the noodles in the sauce! Just make sure to wear something comfortable and something you’re going to wash soon–the hotpot smell really lingers.
I miss Spring Shabu Shabu already. If you’re ever hungry and want to make that journey, I really recommend it.
