Staycation

Staycation

By Altai Ozkan

I feel like sometimes, staycations are just better than vacations. Vacations are great and all, since you can visit family, or go places that are completely new and sightsee around. However, staycations are just so relaxing when you want to take a break from your normal life, but still want to commit to a routine, like I do. Almost everyone I know went back to their hometowns to visit their families, or went to a different state with their friends to have fun, for spring break. Meanwhile, I stayed back at the dorm the entire time.

In the dorm, I felt so productive when it came to my personal life. I did all of my schoolwork and academic necessities, but more importantly to me, I cleaned the entire dorm, went shopping for groceries, went to the gym, and had a healthy lifestyle in terms of food and sleep. I feel like focusing on healthy lifestyle choices is such an underrated thing, especially in this day and age, where everyone says “It’s time to have fun, go out, party, and be wild.” I think this time is the best time to improve yourself. This is the time to be at your prime for health and growing good habits. A lot of people question my motives and wonder why I live such a strict lifestyle, but for the simple answer, I just like the feeling of having strong mental discipline.
