Kevin’s Weekly Review Corner #4

As the weather starts warming up, it is much more enjoyable to go on walks. I decided to stop by the newly opened Levain Bakery branch on Newbury street one day to try out their renowned chocolate chip walnut cookies. There are many other options as well, like dark chocolate cookies, brioche, and coffee. The establishment is rather small and does not allow for indoor seating. Moreover, when I went there was a large line that seemed to not die down as the day went on. Now onto the actual cookies that I bought. The cookies lived up to the various articles I read, gooey and large (6 ounces!). The cookies were not tooth-achingly sweet, but this one cookie is definitely a meal. I would highly recommend trying these cookies at least once. However, if you want to try it at home, there is also a good copycat recipe that I have tried prior to having an actual Levain cookie. Moreover, making it at home means you can manage the size. Though reducing the size as noted by the bakery, means not having that gooey chocolatey center.
