Providence

During the three day weekend I went on a short trip with my roommate, Shelley. We had friends who go to university in Providence, Rhode Island so we decided to treat ourselves with a small day trip. Though it’s only an hour train ride, it gave a completely different energy compared to Boston. The autumn foliage was absolutely stunning and it was truly something you would see in a magazine or a travel guide. We were a little disappointed because it was quite cold and gloomy but that definitely didn’t stop us from having a wonderful day. We visited Brown University’s campus and tried out the dining hall there. I think the dining hall at Northeastern is a lot better because the options at the Brown dining hall was very limited. However, they had apple cider donuts that day so it wasn’t too bad. We also went to Pastiche afterwards to try out their carrot cake and it was probably the best carrot cake I’ve ever had. They were very generous with the walnuts and raisins, and I enjoyed how it wasn’t too sweet either. We then visited different parks, but my favorite was Prospect Terrace. It was on a hill so you can overlook all of Providence. It was super pretty and there were a lot of people having picnics and enjoying the view as well. Overall, it was a very relaxing trip and I was glad I was able to destress.
