Best Places to Cry Around Campus

Sometimes you’re just having a bad day. Maybe a professor yelled at you (maybe even roasted you in from of everyone), or maybe it’s your heartbreak anniversary. Either way, you’re gonna need a good place to cry. After being here for 5 years, I think I have a good idea of where the best spots are. We’ll be going through them in reverse order. Need some suspense in order to maintain views c:

1. Dorm Room

  • It’s got to be pretty rough if you’re crying in your own room. Great spot if you don’t want random strangers perceiving you, but there is a good chance that your roommates may (that is if you have roommates).

2. Snell Library Colabs

  • All of the Snell Library Colabs are really nice. There’s a reservation system too, so you can cry and know that no one is going to come and try to take the room from you. If you’re looking for a colab to cry in, Colabs O to Q are nice since they’re tucked away in the back corner of the library.

3. Marino Showers

  • Personally, I have not taken a shower in Marino, but I hear this has been a good spot for many others. For one, it’s in a gym where everyone is minding their own business, focusing on their own grind (or at least they should be). As it’s a spot outside of your own dorm, you don’t have to worry much about people you know perceiving you. Also, there’s the bonus of the shower both masking your tears and washing them away.

4. The Northeastern University Tunnels (NUT)

  • Honestly, this one was included just so I could call it the NUT (shoutout to Debbie). The NUT is an amazing place, and learning to use it will definitely help make the winters and general weather conditions much easier to deal with. As for crying, there are so many different nooks and crannies that you can sit yourself down at and cry. Mugar is at the end of the tunnels, and as such, not many people venture down that way. There are also a couple of stairwells under Richards and Hayden that would be nice to cry at.

5. Curry Terrace

  • The Curry Terrace is a little-known spot right above the dining area of the Curry Student Center. Very nice spot to studying and relax in the springtime and in general warm weather. Since not too many people come up here, it’s a nice spot to cry while sunbathing. Multitasking at its finest. Definitely a very relaxing spot even if you don’t need to cry.
