If reincarnation was real
I’d want to be a tree
In one spot
But far from dull

Witness the lives around me
Growing until they leave
Civilizations come
Nations go

Taking my time grow
Little by little
Year after year
Rising to the sky

A home for many
Listen to the bird songs
Feel the squirrels crawl
Stretching my roots deep into the Earth

My friends turn to paper
Or become a farm
They disappear until
I’m the only one

Leaves fall
Branches break
It is my time, finally
To my next life
