Thanksgiving Break

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and it’s actually my first time going back home for Thanksgiving Break in college. During my freshman and sophomore year, I chose not to go back only because plane tickets were very expensive. I also didn’t think it was worth traveling such long distances to stay at home for 5 days.

However, I realized that as I get older, I don’t get to spend as much time with my family. Even if it’s for a short period of time, I realized spending quality time with family is worth every penny. During my freshman year, I spent Thanksgiving break with my suitemate who also didn’t go home for break. We signed up for free Pilates and it was actually a lot of fun. Stetson East also provided a really nice Thanksgiving meal with pies, turkey, mashed potatoes, and gravy.

Last year when I lived in West Village B, my two roommates, and we made an extravagant Thanksgiving meal featuring scalloped potatoes, kale and brussels sprouts salad, mac and cheese, homemade cranberry sauce––and we even roasted our own turkey! As much as I loved spending time with my friends here in Boston, spending time at home in California and giving thanks with the people I love the most is what I’m looking forward to in the next coming week!
