Rat lab dissection

In my childhood, I had an irrational fear of frogs and I could not stand to look at them. In my freshman year of high school, I had to dissect a frog in biology lab. Even though at first it was scary to touch the frog but after probing at it for a while with the metal tools I grew comfortable enough to pick it up with my hands. This past week, in biology lab we had to skin and clean a rat in order to identify its muscles. I thought that I would have a similar experience with my rat as I did with my frog but it was not the same. I was given a large rat with black fur and eyes. I was terrified of the rat but luckily my partner had more courage than me. With her help, we were able to skin the rat really fast to get to identifying its muscles. I hope that next week I will grow more comfortable with my rat and be able to grab it with my hand instead of just probing it with the tweezer and probe.
