Kevin’s Weekly Review Corner #6

During the weekend I decided to walk to Chinatown and get some baked goods. After strolling around Chinatown, I bought some egg tarts from both Ho Yuen and Eldo Bakery. I also got a custard bun from Corner Bakery. I decided to buy egg tarts from multiple bakeries to find the best one. After eating both, I would recommend Eldo Bakery’s egg tart as it has a more pronounced custard flavor and flakier crust due to browning. The crispy pineapple cake was also delicious. The cake was similar to a roll cake texture–lightly sweetened–with a sweetened crispy topping. The texture contrast is welcoming, along with the pineapple jam center. The custard bun from Corner Bakery had a slightly crusty sweetened topping with a custard filling. The bread was not dense and was a great treat to pair with coffee. Overall, I was very happy with my purchases as they were much cheaper than many pastries I find in other bakeries.
