Feast of Fish

Happy Lunar New Year!

One tradition that my family follows is preparing fish for Lunar New Year dinner. We usually steam the fish whole, and have it prepared with related side dishes. I really like shiitake mushrooms and soy curd. Eating fish symbolizes wealth, prosperity, and luck in the coming year. It’s important for the head and tail on the fish to be served, because that means a good beginning and good end to the year. I love seafood, so I always look forward to it.

Another of my favorite dishes is noodles. We eat really long noodles to symbolize happiness and longevity. I also have them on my birthday. The dinner is probably what I look forward to most each year. Of course, my family also gets together to catch up on things!
