Let’s talk about Dominic Fike. Chances are, you probably know him. Probably his most well-known song is 3 Nights, which first debuted in 2018 on his EP ‘Don’t Forget About Me, Demos.’ I’ve even heard it play on the radio a few times back home. But if this song doesn’t ring a bell, I would suggest giving the song a listen, and maybe even going through more of his EPs and songs. His music is probably classified as Alternative/Indie Rock/Pop/Rap? It seems as if he does a little bit of everything.
Not only is Dominic Fike an amazing singer-songwriter, but he is part of the Asian American community! If you didn’t know, he is of half Filipino and Haitian descent. You might have also seen him appear in Euphoria Season 2, where he debuts as a new character – Elliot. Elliot tends to hang around Jules and Rue, and it seems as if he might stir a bit of drama this season. After watching Euphoria, I was thinking about how I wished they had included more Asian actors or actresses in the show, but then I remembered Dominic Fike was half Filipino. Although Euphoria could use more Asian representation in the show, I still think the idea of Dominic Fike being half Filipino and providing more Filipino/Asian American representation on the show is cool.
If you haven’t heard much of Dominic Fike’s music before, I would definitely recommend you check it out! Especially his ‘Don’t Forget About Me, Demos’ album. I personally think it’s one of those no skip albums. His most recent album ‘What Could Possibly Go Wrong’ came out in 2020 and my personal favorite songs on that album are ‘Chicken Tenders’ and ‘Vampire’ as well as his feature on ‘Photo ID’ with Remi Wolf!
