Doing nothing

It seems like in this day and age, it is almost impossible to do nothing. Being a student means you’re occupied with classes, extracurriculars, and social life. As an adult, you have to worry about your job, family, and crippling life crises. It feels like the moment you complete one thing you have to start the next in order to get everything done. But there’s this creeping thought in the back of your head that comes and goes and it makes you worry about something else as you are simply trying to go through your day. It’s like a never-ending cycle of stress and despair. Well, this is your reminder to ignore that.

It’s fine.

I promise you that everything is alright.

On the first day of school, I was late by a minute or two to some of my classes. I walked in and the teacher already started the lecture with everyone looking at me. I could tell throughout the day my mind was clouded and I was on edge. My last class of the day only went on for only 30 minutes until the professor said “that would be all for today”. I walked outside and pondered what to do now since my day was over and it was still early in the evening. I figured why not just do nothing. I picked a bench and sat down. Took a few deep breaths. I felt the breeze pass through my body. And I thought to myself

This is good.

Try doing nothing sometimes. I think you would find it quite enjoyable. No phones, no distractions. Experience yourself living.
