Challenges – Perseverance

To say that the past few weeks of this semester has been stressful would be an understatement. I felt like there was always something going on, something I had to do, something on my to-do list that needed to be checked off. With work study and a part-time job, classes and homework, club events and co-op search, I had never before felt so overwhelmed.

I think what I am most proud of this semester so far is just getting through all of that. Perseverance is just a word but doing it takes a lot of effort and dedication.

I am slowly beginning to balance everything on my plate with a more structured schedule and a less frantic mindset. More planning and doing and less worrying, I tell myself, as I start getting things done that needs to be done. With work schedules falling into place and just having finished midterms and interviews for co-op, I’m realizing now that it wasn’t easy getting though all of that. Sometimes we give ourselves a lot of the pressure too, whether it’s maintaining our GPAs, hearing back from co-ops, getting an offer, having a social life…the list goes on and on.

So I think overall, I am just grateful and glad that I’m getting through it all and being happy with the results I am creating for myself. Even getting up early when all I want to do is sleep in, I think should be a challenge we all get to be proud of ourselves for. And all of us certainly do much, much more. Self-care and being kind to ourseves is important amidst all the stress and challenges we have to go through. We’re persevering through it – and that should be something to be proud of in and of itself.
