Bling Empire

**There are spoilers **

I recently went to a friend’s house, where she and her roommates were watching Bling Empire on Netflix (I know I am late on the trend). This Netflix show displays the real lives of America’s Crazy Rich Asians. To be completely frank, when I watched the movie, Crazy Rich Asians, I believed that it was highly exaggerated and unrealistic. But no. It was not exaggerated. If anything, I felt like the cast on Bling Empire had even more extravagant lives. From dressing Baby G in head-to-toe Versace to wearing tiaras, it was astonishing to see the lives of the duper rich.

It was also interesting to see the only “poor”, in my opinion, “normal”, person, Kevin, evolve over the couple of weeks he has been hanging around these super rich individuals. He started off as any regular person living in the states with a regular apartment and regular clothes. Towards the middle of the show, we saw that he has been receiving Dior shoes and clothes as gifts from Anna. At first, he was very burdened by the act of generosity, but quickly adjusted to his new clothes.

What I found surprising, is that the crazy rich were not necessarily looking down at Kevin for being “poor”. Sure, they were teasing him and such, but always very playfully. Also, these crazy rich people, who look like they have no pain or hardships, all had their own stories. Kim didn’t know her father; Cherie had 2 kids with her boyfriend, who showed strong reluctant to get married; Kelly was in a highly toxic relationship; and Christine was looked down upon for having difficulty having children.

So, do I recommend watching this Netflix series? 10/10 yes. It will not be a waste of time especially if you loved Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
