Beans! Beans! Beans!

Tomorrow is the first day of the 69th annual Beanpot, held at TD Garden. To those who don’t know, Beanpot is a Hockey tournament amongst the four major schools in the Boston area (Northeastern, Boston College, Boston University, and Harvard). As a freshman, this will be my first ever Beanpot and I couldn’t be more excited. This would be my first time going into TD Garden for a sporting event since coming to Boston, as it was never really feasible for any other occasion. Since coming to Northeastern, I have become a huge fan of college hockey and Beanpot Is one of those special experiences you get by only being in Boston.

To prepare for Beanpot, members of the Doghouse (the group who lead Northeastern’s fan section) are planning to make new posters and banners to support our team. With many of the younger members of the team also experiencing their first beanpot, we want to show our support in any form possible. Also, the team’s regular goalie, Devon Levi, is In Beijing as he is participating in the 2022 Winter Olympics. Although the other schools who are participating have also lost some key players to the Olympics as well. This year’s beanpot will be extra exciting due to this factor, in my opinion.

Furthermore, I have complete faith in the Men’s team and am hoping for a big win in the first round against Boston College. The Doghouse even created a new chant just for that game. More importantly, my pride is on the line. The first game tomorrow is BU against Harvard and then Northeastern follows against BC. My uncle is a Harvard alumnus, who also wishes for his team to make the finals, just as I do for Northeastern. This led to a rivalry in our family where assuming both our teams make it to the finals, the better of the two will win. Which is Northeastern, whose presence at TD garden will overwhelm the other schools.  This is because I am pretty sure our student section ended up buying out most of Harvard’s as well.

This is of course all wishful thinking, but first thing first is the match against BC. As a Northeastern student and member of the Doghouse, all I can say is “We want Beans!”.
