Because I am taking summer classes, my parents came over to Boston to visit me and help me move in. I was able to join them for dinner and eat some traditional Cantonese style cuisine that I missed from home. I enjoyed eating dishes like salt and pepper pork, salt and pepper fried squid, and lamb stew. I also learned that those large fish that I’ve always seen at weddings can cost upwards of $80 for just one piece. I ordered one with my friends to celebrate my birthday without asking for the price but it tasted delicious so I did not think too much of it. My friends and I also take turns cooking at home, making curry, rice dishes, chicken and chinese broccoli, and many more. AAPI heritage is amazing and I am so grateful to be able to share many fun moments with my friends.
