This past weekend I drove to Liberty State Park in Jersey City with my friend. The drive was about one and a half hours from my house. Of course our first stop was for some coffee at Dunkin. We planned to arrive at Liberty State Park around sunset time which was around 4:45pm so that we could have a nice little sunset photoshoot. But, we didn’t end up getting on the road until 4pm. So as we drove, the sun was already setting. The sun was setting so fast and I could see the Manhattan skyline in the distance (as seen in the picture below). Honestly, I was kind of annoyed because I didn’t want to get to the park when it was dark outside already, but the sunset during the drive gave me such a nice dose of serotonin. Aside from me almost missing the exit like three times because I couldn’t merge into the right lane in time, the drive was so relaxing and enjoyable. I had my good vibes playlist playing in the car, and my friend and I just sang along to every song. The music fit the aesthetic coming from the sunset drive really well, and it definitely was one of the best feelings I’ve felt in a while. Usually my parents are really strict on me driving far or just going out in general, so I’ve been stuck home or just around my town a lot for the past few months since school started. So, when I got to go out on this drive, it was a really freeing feeling that I’ve missed. Once we got to Liberty State Park, it was pretty dark out, but that means that the city lights turned on. This was another amazing sight to see. Liberty State Park has a beautiful view of Manhattan’s skyline and also the Statue of Liberty. It was actually kind of nice going there later in the day because there was barely anyone there; it’s a huge park and we only saw about 6 other people/families. We both took some pictures of each other and just walked around to soak in the views. We left the park after about 2 hours, and then headed to get some food. We got Shake Shack on the way home and that just added to that dose of serotonin. Overall, it was a really good and relaxing day that I appreciated a lot after a long week of exams and assignments.
