A Guide to Finals

Another semester that is ending, another week of finals. I can hardly believe that my second semester is already ending, and that I am soon to be a second-year college student. Looking back at my first semester, I wanted to share some of the few things I learned that worked best for me when studying, and some other things that I want to try to implement this time around.

  1. Stay organized. This might sound obvious but making sure all my notes are in order really help me to know the material more. Stay organized also means that I keep an up-to-date schedule of all my due dates and responsibilities and that I keep my study area clean and mess-free!
  2. Keep all distractions away! This might be especially challenging since we are all virtual now, but I still tend to strawy away from classes occasionally and scroll through my phone. Make sure to take a break from your devices, and keep them away for the time being, as it can help you focus more on the task at hand.
  3. Change your environment. I found this to be especially helpful, specifically when I tire of staying in one place all the time. When the weather is nice, I like to take my work outside. I also found that I tend to work better outside with other people, since I feel more responsible to keep up with my work. Seeing others motivated also keeps me motivated as well.
  4. Take breaks! Time management is especially important, so it is good to take breaks in between studying. It is easy to get overwhelmed and I found that even short breaks allow me to feen reenergized and stay in good condition.
