Another semester that is ending, another week of finals. I can hardly believe that my second semester is already ending, and that I am soon to be a second-year college student. Looking back at my first semester, I wanted to share some of the few things I learned that worked best for me when studying, and some other things that I want to try to implement this time around.
- Stay organized. This might sound obvious but making sure all my notes are in order really help me to know the material more. Stay organized also means that I keep an up-to-date schedule of all my due dates and responsibilities and that I keep my study area clean and mess-free!
- Keep all distractions away! This might be especially challenging since we are all virtual now, but I still tend to strawy away from classes occasionally and scroll through my phone. Make sure to take a break from your devices, and keep them away for the time being, as it can help you focus more on the task at hand.
- Change your environment. I found this to be especially helpful, specifically when I tire of staying in one place all the time. When the weather is nice, I like to take my work outside. I also found that I tend to work better outside with other people, since I feel more responsible to keep up with my work. Seeing others motivated also keeps me motivated as well.
- Take breaks! Time management is especially important, so it is good to take breaks in between studying. It is easy to get overwhelmed and I found that even short breaks allow me to feen reenergized and stay in good condition.
