Valentine’s Day

Today is my first Valentine’s Day away from home. It is making me more homesick than I anticipated it would. Every year, I would come home with a bouquet of roses along with a dessert on the kitchen table awaiting for me, placed by my dad. It was a yearly tradition that I didn’t even think of as a tradition, but now that I won’t experience that today, I am realizing how happy that gesture made me. I wish I could come home from my classes today to my family and share a cheesecake or fruit tart or cake (or whatever my dad was craving that year) together. Valentine’s Day really is making me appreciate my loved ones – in a way that I did not expect.
