TV Recommendations for the Summer!

Alas it is the last blog of the semester! Just in time for you all to read after your exams! I hope you all are proud of how hard you worked and enjoy the next couple of months off! However, those of you who are taking summer classes, don’t worry I’m here to suffer with you!

To establish my credentials of television watching, I have seen a wide variety of genres: comedy, romantic comedy, horror, anime, mystery, thriller…… must I go on? Moreover, I have been watching Netflix since they still had to send you the physical copy of the movie in order to watch it. Okay so now that that’s out of the way, let’s commence with my “must watches”!

Genre: Thriller, Mystery

  1. Sherlock (BBC Series)
  2. You

These two shows are some of my all-time favorites! If you enjoy trying to solve the mystery before the ending is revealed or analyzing every small detail of a scene, these shows are for you!

Genre: Comedy, Sit Coms

  1. New Girl
  2. Grace and Frankie
  3. The Good Place

Now here is where I truly shine because I absolutely love sit coms! For those of you who know me personally, you know I can recite lines from any episode, any season of New Girl at any time. Please watch these shows if you enjoy lighthearted comedy, strong female leads, and hilarious characters.

Genre: Horror

  1. American Horror Story

Yes, there’s only one recommendation in this genre but I haven’t seen any other shows that can match the amount of gore, insane plot lines, and impeccable acting of the cast of AHS. My personal favorite seasons include Coven and Apocalypse.

Honorable Mentions:

  1. The Disastrous Life of Saiki K (Anime Comedy)
  2. Queen’s Gambit (Dark Academia? Listed as Drama)
  3. Dead to Me (Mystery + Comedy)
  4. The Umbrella Academy (Sci Fi, Comedy + Drama)
  5. Jane the Virgin (Rom Com, Mystery)
  6. Avatar: The Last Airbender (+ The Legend of Korra) (Animated, Adventure)
  7. Start Up (KDrama, Rom Com)
  8. Bridgerton (Historical Drama, Rom)

This was a lot and a little scrambled in terms of genre, but I also give my 100% support to each one of these eight shows because they have either an immaculate plot, cast, or filming. Happy Bingeing this summer everyone!
