Things I Learned in 2020

  1. It’s scary how fast things change. Your passion and effort shows and is noticed by the people around you.
  2. It’s easier looking at things in the big picture.
  3. First impressions aren’t always accurate!
  4. It’s rare that the differences that you have with someone are what allows you both to grow and broaden your perspectives (and it’s important to value this).
  5. Death happens all the time and all around us.
  6. Educating yourself is not always a positive experience. It can come with discomfort and vulnerability.
  7. Getting too comfortable is not always a good thing.
  8. It’s ok to speak up for what you want.
  9. Speak up against what you think is wrong.
  10. Opportunities don’t present themselves often so when they do, take them.
  11. It’s ok to think in the present and not in the future.
  12. People’s opinions don’t matter unless you make them matter.
  13. Making the best out of every situation is the key to self-growth.
  14. Being able to put your pride aside and forgive is challenging but rewarding.
  15. You can make self-care a habit if you put your mind to it.
  16. It’s scary that you can see someone everyday for months and then not see them for an entire year.
  17. Past mistakes don’t define who you are, as long as you’ve learned and improved.
  18. Turn being grateful into a short-term feeling that never ends.
  19. 2020 may have been the worst year but there’s so much hope for things to get better.
