Passionate, Spontaneous, Overthinker

The easy way out here is saying “creative” and calling it a day.

Though I wish I could say I’m organized, I know in truth that I’m very meticulous. And disorganized. But I’ve embraced these qualities as what makes me my own brand of artist and person overall. I’ve learned that by comparing myself to very Type A, methodical people, maybe elementary school was right in saying that everyone is unique in their own way. So yes, I am not the person who printed their booklet 2 weeks early with a technical Swiss design grid, but I am the person who wove my culture and personal voice into my work. Who made 20 different page spread ideas. Who draws and never finishes a composition with smooth, stick thin lines. And both are not any better, just different.

Though I tend to think and do things in a complicated, messy way, and something I’ve learned from my personality in recent years is that this is just who I am. I’m not bound to these three words, but once in a while it’s okay to lean into that drive to give things meaning or to improvise a tentative solution. Maybe these words will change, but for now this is who I am today.
