I just began the second week of my first spring semester at Northeastern.
Excited? Of course. Scared? A bit. Confused? Always.
Throughout my senior year of high school, I remember asking my siblings how hard college really was and if I am academically prepared for it. I was reassured about my underestimated abilities, but I guess they failed to mention the social aspect of it all. I will admit that I do not know many people, and that was expected, but what I never expected were all the arguments and misunderstandings in between.
Adapting to college is never easy, especially when you’re still trying to navigate through the Northeastern Tunnels without getting confused. I had a hard time accepting the realities of human interaction and nature. So I will tell you the top 3 lessons I discovered so far…do what you will with this information I suppose.
1. Conflicts arise from a lack of perspective ALWAYS
2. No one is YOU so don’t hold anyone to the same standards as you would yourself
3. Expect nothing from everyone
