My Fluffy Friend

On June 1st, our family celebrated my cat, Goomi’s, second birthday. She is a gray and white American short hair with a chubby belly. I have been really interested in adapting a cat since the beginning of freshmen year. After months and months of research and persuading my mom, our family decided to go to a shelter to adapt a cat. We agreed that I would be responsible and take the cat after moving off-campus my junior year. Before we named Goomi, her original name at the shelter was Mimi. We wanted to give her our own name and my sister thought of a cute idea. She told us that when she looked at her paws, especially her “toe beans,” they reminded her of a Korean grape-flavored jelly named “My Goomi.”

Her birthday reminded me of the 500+ pictures that I took of her. Looking at pictures from when we first brought her home to when I took her to Boston, I realized how fast time flies and how fast Goomi grew (first picture is summer of 2019 when she got spayed and second picture is my favorite most recent picture). I hope to build more memories with Goomi and I also wish that she would live a long and happy life as a part of our family.
