Indulge in the World of Personality Tests

Hello! Have we met? No? Here’s how the following conversation will go:

  1. Question 1: Name?
  2. Question 2: Major?
  3. Question 3: Myers Briggs?

One of my favorite things to ask a new person I’ve met is for their Myers Briggs personality type. Each combination of those four letters are extremely valuable and insightful to one’s soul.

Though the other person may not know yet, I’ve already constructed a rough outline of their personality. You see, I began my investigation from the first moment I laid eyes on them. The outfit they’re wearing, the way they carry themselves, their hairstyle, every minuscule detail reveals a plethora of information. And this is before I’ve even heard them speak! Of course, my first impressions aren’t completely accurate– but it’s all part of the process! I love analyzing personalities (can you tell I’m a Psych major yet?) and enjoy learning as much as I can about them.

Besides the Myers Brigg’s 16 personalities test (take it here!), I’ve got a few other tests up my sleeve that I will implore you and your friends to take if you haven’t already!

The Open Enneagram of Personality Scales Test (link) organizes you into one of nine personality possibilities. In my opinion, enneagrams complement your MBTI and provide an extension to an even more in depth understanding of one’s personality.

Next, I encourage you to ask your friend about their Love Language (link)! There are four different quizzes you could take but to learn about your individual love language, I suggest the “Singles” quiz. The results of this one in particular are important to me because I am able to learn how to best let my friends know that I appreciate them! For your “words of affirmation” pals, make sure to hype them up once in a while– sadly “physical touch” types will have to rely on their roommate for a hug or two during this pandemic.

Lastly, I have the Difficult Person Test (link), which is one I just recently learned about from my friend! (shoutout to Kelley!) The results of this test create a pie chart of traits that are most disagreeable about you. In addition to the pie chart, you’ll get a percentage of how easy or difficult you are to get along with. Average numbers range around 40% (from 0%, easy to 100%, difficult).

I hope you enjoy learning more about yourself and others through these tests!
