How I Survive a Night Shift

Hello everyone! As you may or may not know, I work per diem at Tufts Medical Center as a patient care technician. I am on a rotating schedule, which means that I have to work both day and night shifts. I prefer day shifts as I find it much easier to wake up early than stay up all night. What I usually do to prepare myself for a night shift is try and take a nap a few hours before I go in and drink a caffeinated beverage between the hours of 6 pm and 3 am. That way, I have enough to keep me going, but not enough that I cannot sleep when I get back home. During the shift, I like to keep moving or doing something, as it distracts my brain from wanting to sleep.
