SUMMER 2023 AKA Narnia: The Mouse, The KFC, and The Commuter Rail
From January to June, I was as a Graphic Designer for the CI (Consumer Insight) Dept. @ Disney Parks, Experiences, & Parks in Orlando, FL! Moving to Florida on my own was wild, but I met some of the best friends and mentors there (I swear I’m not a Disney adult OR a Florida man). I got to create internal branding, user surveys, park & campaign illustrations, & presentations to park leader Josh D’Amaro. I love my friends there and miss them SO much; I was also in a beach volleyball league and lived with friends, but also had my fair share of work politics and bugs lol. :(( If you ever have any questions on Disney I’d be happy to chat!
Once I came back from FL, I was still on the grind, RIP. 2 days after moving back to Boston, I started as Project Manager @ MullenLowe U.S. working on the KFC, HI-CHEW, and American Woodmark (the oddest client and apparently 4th largest cabinet distributer in the U.S.??) accounts. My fav moments were being office friends with the community manager that made the KFC SatoSugu tweet and somehow becoming the face of drag bingo.
All work stuff aside, the commuter rail offered a special deal because of a tunnel closure and I took advantage of that to take day trips to Salem, Rockport, and Newburyport! $2.40 each way, which was amazing; I’m considering moving to the West Coast, so it was perfect for exploring Mass on a budget/without a car here. My current ranking is:
- Rockport
- Salem
- Newburyport
Have you been to any of these places & any recs? Hoping to go on more adventures!

WHY THE AAC?
University has been a weird time; coming in at 2020, as we’ve all heard over and over, was not great for getting involved around campus and kind of skewed my experience. While I was searching for work study opportunities after finally coming back to campus full-time, I wanted to be a more active part of the Asian/Asian-American community. I’m nervous to come in knowing almost no one, but I’m excited to learn more, be a part of events, and push myself out of my comfort zone of my “go to class and go straight home” cycle!
