Green Tiles

My house has not changed since we first moved in 20 years ago. Everything was kept the same, from the blue kitchen that everyone was fascinated by, the heavy red curtains that look like they do not belong and the iconic green bathroom. In recent years, my mom has been talking about remodeling our house, starting from our bathroom. Over the years, it has only worn with age, and there was no longer enough storage for our growing collection of soaps and lotions. Life got in the way and our green bathroom continued to stay green for a while.

One spontaneous decision later, there was plastic wrap draped all over our house, and the green tiles were slowly brought out of the bathroom one by one. The green granite sink was also brought out and the jacuzzi tub that no one has touched in years also found its way out. It was weird seeing our house under construction, nothing had changed since we first moved in. Even though it was just a bathroom, there was something consistent about the green bathroom. However, everyone in the house was excited to pick out the new tiles and fret over the trivial things such as moving the toilet paper holder just a bit more up to adjust to our taller bodies now.

Our house is now a continuous project, each room slowly changing from how I remembered it. Not all the green tiles have been thrown out though, my sister salvaged a piece of the green tile and is now displaying it outside.
