Family

Family has recently been a big thing I try to not take for granted.

I think as I’m spending more time away from family and home I’ve come to realize how much love the idea of home conveys and how much I appreciate that. It is not so much as missing family as it is appreciation of how lucky I am to have them.

It’s in the individual relationships I have with each member of my family. My dad, my mom, my younger sister, my younger brother. Conversations with my parents, the constant making fun of each other with my siblings. The bond I have with each of them is special in their own way and something I treasure.

It’s also in the feeling of stepping through the doors of the house. That familiar feeling that this is home. Where food is either waiting for me on the table or in the fridge. Where being in the presence of family gives me a sense of security and warmth.

I try to not take it for granted because I am very, very grateful for having people in my life who I know are thinking about me when they have their own things to worry about. Who love unconditionally and only want the very best for me. Who go out of their way to make me happy and feel loved.
