One of my favorite hobbies outside of academia is drawing and doing anything creative. Growing up in a household that heavily emphasized academic success, I found drawing to be very therapeutic and a great way for me to destress. I love the imagination you can pour into a piece of art; you do not have to be bound by the laws of physics or the ideas of reality and can manipulate shapes and colors to convey emotion. There’s also something very satisfying about working on something for hours on end and then finally seeing your idea come together- though the process is often filled with frustration. In these past few years, I’ve switched over to drawing on my iPad and I can really appreciate the convenience that digital art brings to the table. I am heavily inspired to draw by characters from my favorite video games like Animal Crossing and Genshin Impact. Though I feel like I haven’t had much time for drawing recently, it’s something that will always bring me comfort. I hope to do it more once my schedule frees up. I remember I even had dreams about starting a small art shop. LOL guess whose a STEM major now. It’s never too late to go back to the drawing board tho….
Peace out
