Back to Spring Semester!

I am so excited for this new semester to start. Last semester was a rough one for me mentally and emotionally; I was stuck at home and I feel like I wasn’t really having any personal growth while there. Of course, it was nice being at home with my family and having my mom making all my favorite foods and getting to play with my little nephew every day, but something about being stuck in the same room all day especially in the small town that I lived in got exhausting. It made me lose energy and motivation to get up every day. My sleeping schedule worsened as the days went by and I felt like I forgot how to socialize.

Anyways, I’m back in Boston for the semester and I’m truly grateful. I’m a little upset that my best friend / roommate backed out of coming back to campus last minute, meaning that I’m living alone. But I’m staying positive and looking at the good of living alone. This is definitely a good semester to be living alone because of the pandemic. I have my own room and my own bathroom to myself, so a lot less contact and germs spreading! I do have a suitemate that lives in the other room of the apartment, and she happens to be an RA. At first, I was kind of bummed to live with an RA because I thought it’d feel like I always had her watching every little thing I do and making me follow every single rule, but honestly, it’s kind of nice having an RA suitemate because it means that she’s responsible and during COVID times, responsibility is key. Something that I’m currently obsessed with about my room is my view (pictured below). It is the most beautiful thing to wake up to, go to bed to, do work to, and just vibe to. I literally look out my window and feel happiness radiating. I also really like the change of pace that I get from Boston rather than my hometown; I feel much busier and much more motivated to do things. With that being said, here are a few goals of mine for the semester:

  1. Start reading! (I haven’t read a book in so long, but I really want to get into it)
  2. Start a consistent workout schedule (I just bought some at-home workout equipment that I’m excited about)
  3. Get into photography (I want to buy a camera, and get into editing, but that can be expensive so not sure yet)
  4. Secure a good co-op (ah, starting to apply to co-ops now, kind of stressed but also excited)
  5. Be more attentive in classes (not a big fan of the material I’m learning in a few of my classes so, it’s hard to pay attention but I need to fix that)
  6. Be more confident and learn to live alone while being happy!! (can’t always depend on others for validation or to make myself happy!!)

Good luck to all in this new semester whether you’re in classes or working!!!! 😊
