5 Must-Haves for Fall 2020 Hybrid Classes

1. Masks

I recently wrote a blog listing the top 5 reasons to wear masks. I cannot stress enough that masks are a MUST. Besides, Northeastern will not allow you to be on campus without masks, anyways.

2. Laptop/Computer

I know everyone has one of these, but make sure they are updated to the latest software and are reliable. You will not want to run into the issue of a broken laptop when you have 4 papers and 2 finals!

3. Internet/Wi-Fi

This is a given! Since there are many restrictions to be on campus, you will need Wi-Fi in your home. Hotspots work, but when I didn’t have Wi-Fi for 3 days, I realized that Hotspots are not powerful enough for Zoom. It gets very awkward when the professor calls your name to answer a question, but you couldn’t hear it due to bad connection…

4. Webcam

Since classes are hybrid, there will be cases where you will take exams at home. Some classes require Lockdown Browser WITH Webcam, so it is essential that you have one on hand.

5. Desk or Study Space

Since we are now spending more time at home than in the library, it is important to have your own study space. I personally prefer to separate my study space from my sleep space. I feel that this helps me stay focused when studying and relaxed when going to bed. However, everyone’s preferences are different, so this is obviously up to you!
