I think that if I were ever stranded on a tropical island, I’d first try to build myself some shelter. Then I’d worry about finding food and water. I’m imagining that the island I’m on has trees and grasses that I can use in addition to the sand (the following items are largely ineffective for anything else if there isn’t!)
1. A machete. This would be great for chopping down tree branches and cutting down fronds to build some sort of hut, and for making my way through brush. It could be used to chop coconuts and spear fish if I really wanted to challenge myself.
2. A LifeStraw. I don’t want to get sick from drinking water when I don’t know what’s in it and hopefully this helps.
3. A huge, thick blanket. I’m probably not going to be able to make a fire with the items I’ve brought previously! Maybe an encyclopedia of what wild plants, nuts, and berries are safe to eat if not this.
I really think that I’d need more than three essential items to bring along 😆 maybe a boat to get out of there
