Intro – About Lisa Park

Hi! My name is Lisa Park and I’m working as an intern at the AAC this fall semester. I’m a second year majoring in Math and Economics and I’m from South Korea.

When I first came to college, I was confused on how to answer the ‘where’s your hometown’ question. I was born in Colorado but I’ve only lived there for two years. I also lived in South Carolina and New York for two years each before my family moved to Korea. After some thinking, I settled on Jeonju (a small suburban town located Southwest of Korea) being my hometown as I’ve lived there since I was 5 and I have the most memories there. Fun fact: I also spent fifth grade in the States because my family moved back for a year. (I lived in Georgia!)

I spent my entire summer catching up with my friends and traveling. I went to Japan, Taiwan, and several other cities in Korea that I’d never been to before. I also worked a part time job/intern at a comic book store cafe. Summer is a very important time for me as it’s the only time I get to see my friends/family/dog and spend time with them. It felt a bit weird going home though because my parents moved after I went to college so I wasn’t going back to Jeonju :’) The job I had helped me find friends at my new home though! I do miss being home but being away at college definitely helped me internally grow and become more independent.

I’m excited to work with other interns at the AAC and become more close-knit with members within the community.
