Lisa Jewell Meet & Greet
Background
In my last blog post, I wrote about my love for Lisa Jewell and ranked my top 3 favorite books by her. Since then, I’ve been looking more into her social media and professional website to get an idea of who she is. I even followed her on Instagram and started commenting on her posts about new releases. She is very interactive with her fans and liked one of the comments I made on her post! I was so excited that I screamed and showed my mom the notification.
Meet & Greet
A few days ago, I saw that she had posted something on her Instagram story, so I opened it. It was a flyer about her upcoming Meet & Greets in the U.S! She is a British author, so I’d never even dreamed I could meet her one day. I was actually planning on sending her a fan letter but didn’t know where to address it. Maybe I can give it to her at the Meet & Greet in August!!
Obstacles
Even though my heart was set on meeting her, I was nervous about the event for several reasons. Firstly, the event is at a bookstore in Plainsville, MA, which is an hour’s drive from Northeastern. In addition, I have no idea how to use public transportation, and most routes said the trip would take 3 hours. I could take an Uber, but that would cost over $150 round trip, and the event only costs $5! However, yesterday, my MKTG group members helped me develop a trip plan that would only cost $30 and take 1.5-2 hrs. That’s doable!
Conclusion
I am SO excited to finally meet my hero, buy her new book, and give her my letter. She has had a significant impact on my life; seeing her in person would mean the world to me. Wish me luck on my trip!!
