Campus Critters

Everyone always judges me for this, but I truly, genuinely have a crippling fear of the critters roaming around campus. From squirrels to pigeons to mice, I try to avoid them at all costs.

It absolutely pains me whenever I’m walking back to my dorm at night and I see a little tail scurrying or I hear a rustle in the bushes. When I walk through Ruggles, there’s always a pigeon that blocks my path. When it was warmer out and I’d study outside, a squirrel would always manage to stare and threateningly come close to me without a second thought.

I just don’t understand why they’re not scared. Other little birds that I see while walking immediately fly away when I make even the slightest moves, but these squirrels and pigeons are ruthless. I’d be not even a foot away and they still won’t budge.

My friends laugh whenever I move to the other side of the group to avoid these little campus critters, but at least I’m as far away as possible from them.

Hopefully there’s someone out there who relates, because I know I can’t be the only one.
