Take a wellness day!

It’s that time of the semester when it’s test after test, quiz after quiz, and project after project. If you can’t tell I’m tired and I want to complain. All of October, I don’t think I went one week without having at least either a test, a quiz, or part of a project to turn in for one of my classes. It doesn’t help that those three things compromise a large percentage of my class grade. On top of that, I still had regular homework and my personal life. There was no time for a break. There still isn’t.

November is upon us, and most would think it’s time to hunker down and prepare for finals. The thing is most of my classes don’t have finals. Right after midterms, it’s just more tests and quizzes, and projects. While I enjoy most of my classes, group projects always irk me a little because trying to find a workable time for a group of busy students to meet isn’t always easy. For example, in this one group I am in, each one of us has a loaded schedule. When one of us is free the other is busy. There are five of us and the best we could do was a quick zoom call between one person’s class and another’s meeting. When trying to schedule another meeting the only available time for all of us was at 10 pm on a Thursday night. It’s exhausting.

On that note, don’t forget that Northeastern has done this wonderful thing called wellness days and each student gets 2. They email your professors that you are taking a wellness day. It’s also excused, so professors can’t be upset or hold it against you. If you haven’t used one yet, do it. Take a day off and breathe or use it to catch up on some material or get ahead. I used one of mine so that I could sleep in and get ahead on some homework without having to worry about class for a day.
