Hey guys, welcome back to my blog! Today we’re going to be talking about something a little bit different. As I’m sure you know by now, I am an avid supporter of a boy group based in South Korea known as NCT. Recently, they just had a comeback, meaning they came out with a new album and are currently promoting it. I listen to many different types of music and support many different bands. One thing I’ve noticed that makes K-Pop albums different from western albums is the sheer amount of things you get with them.
With Western albums, what usually comes is a cheap plastic case and the CD itself. When I got my first Kpop album, however, my eyes were opened to the possibilities of what an album could come with. There’s obviously the CD itself, but the packaging is usually very beautiful and there are multiple editions for each album. Then there comes the photobook, which makes up the bulk of the album: the singers are usually clad in different attire and against different backdrops to have an aesthetic appeal. A poster, lyric book and typically some stickers are included as well as more things to collect and put up. One of the most defining features of a K-Pop album is the photocard, in which there is a photo of one specific member of the band featured on one side of a single card, with a signature on the other side.
Since there are twenty three members of NCT, there is only a 4.3% chance that I was going to get a photocard with my bias or favorite member, but I was lucky enough to get one of my other favorite members.
