Lunar New Year🧧

My favorite part of the Lunar New Year is preparing and eating the food. Some food I eat includes Nian Gao (sticky rice cakes), fish 🐟, dumplings 🥟, Tang Yuan (sweet glutinous balls), and tangerines 🍊. Each of the foods represents something that brings good luck into the new year. Nian Gao represents prosperity (sounds like 年高 – “higher year”), fish represents wealth/prosperity (年年有余 – the last word “余” means plenty/enough for leftovers and it sounds the same as fish), dumplings represent fortune (their shapes look like gold and silver ingots), Tang Yuan represents togetherness and family reunion due to its round shape, and tangerines represents good luck and happiness. Hope everyone has a Happy Lunar New Year and a great 2024! 🍊
