My Thai Vegan Cafe

As someone who suffers from an egg-allergy, I’m always on the hunt for eggless (or vegan) Thai food. I found this place unintentionally as I was searching for healthy/vegan places in Boston. It looked super good and affordable so we knew we had to check it out.

The restaurant was on the second floor of the corner building. It was pretty spacious and had a bunch of house plants, a huge 90’s flat screen TV, and random cardboard boxes in the corner- the epitome of a mom-and-pop shop. There seemed to be 3 family members working on the floor with a handful of cooks in the back room. The husband and wife were super welcoming and helpful with my allergies. Noah and I ordered Roll Sod (fresh spring rolls), Bangkok fried rice (with chicken), and Pad Kee Mow. It only took about 15 minutes for the food to come out!

The food was amazing. It still blows my mind that this place is entirely vegan, yet still tastes like how a “normal” Thai dish would be. We shared the fresh spring rolls with the sweet and spicy sauce. We thought that we had ordered the crispy ones but nonetheless, they were pretty good!  I got “veggie-chicken” in my fried rice and it was delicious. It genuinely tasted like chicken; the onions, tomatoes, broccoli and snow peas all complimented the dish too! Noah also thoroughly enjoyed his dish and devoured it in a matter of a couple minutes. We ended up clearing our plates because it was just that delicious- and affordable!

Our only complaint was that, once it got busy, it took a long time for us to get the check and for them to clear out the tables for more customers- which was totally understandable considering their small staff. We felt bad for the people waiting to order take-out, those waiting to order for dine in, and the workers who seemed pretty overwhelmed.

My Thai Vegan Cafe on Beach Street in Chinatown was a delightful experience. We will definitely be returning to try out their vegan desserts and boba too!
