Besides spending time getting back into school and Boston, I realized that I ate a good handful of different ice cream and bingsoo flavors this past month as a last hurrah before I have 0 motivation to go outside and my utility bill hits an ungodly number.
Before coming back to NU, I had one of my favorite flavors ever at a little window in Rockport; some flavors include strawberry cheesecake and blueberry, but cherry amaretto definitely came through as the best summer wrap up treat I could’ve had. Another favorite is the saffron and rose ice cream from Fruttiberri in Watertown. If you’ve never tried Persian ice cream, I would absolutely go there ASAP for the most interesting, chewy (from an ingredient called salep), refreshing ice cream.
On top of my September ice cream runs, I’m 2 for 5 on my Caffe Bene bingsoo conquest. I will say that I went to Bene originally after getting super disappointed at another place on Newbury that essentially served freezer ice with random fruit scraps, so it hit even more than usual. Currently, I would say mango yogurt is #1 for being easy to eat and to share! Also I have no idea how, but the fruit is so fresh-tasting at Caffe Bene I have no idea how they do it. Matcha is a super good option for a leftover treat, not only are the Bene bingsoos huge, but matcha in particular is loaded with toppings like red bean and heaping scoops of walnuts/almonds which makes it the best value for quantity!
Now that I’m invested in fall everything, keeping my eye out for Trader Joe’s Pumpkin ice cream again which is perfect for the sweet loaf breads and roll cakes I make every year. Hoping to have fun trying more new foods & flavors.
