Preparing for the Move

Great news: I’m moving into an off-campus apartment beginning in December! Which means I have to do a bunch of furniture shopping for my bed, dresser, desk, etc. I’m realizing how much of an investment this will be and it’s definitely stressing me out but I know it’ll be super nice to have my own single in preparing for when I start co-op. Our unit is in the basement which I’m a little nervous about but I’m looking forward to trying out different methods to make my room super cozy and well-lit.

I’m also a little nervous about how ventilation will be when it comes to cooking because there’s no fume hood above the stove and I utilize this appliance a lot in my current apartment. I’m hoping it won’t be too much of an issue or a hazard since our living room’s window is a little small as well.

As for what I’m excited about, I’m happy to be moving even closer to campus – especially since it’ll be winter soon and the walk will be 5 minutes shorter to classes. Also, I’m excited to be able to host my out of school friends at my place and not have to worry about proctors or RAs anymore. And, since Christmas is coming up, we get to decorate our apartment! And I am excited to decorate my room!

I will be missing the 6th floor view of Davenport Commons B and the amazing sunsets we see from this window. I’m going to miss my neighbors and my friends since we’re all in the same building too.  There are many pros and cons to moving out but this will be the beginning of a new chapter!
