Meet the New Team 442 of ’21-’22!

Claire Blaufox, she/her/hers, PAAC Co-Chair

3rd Year, Chemical Engineering, Ardsley, NY

Hobbies: cooking, baking, reading books and webtoons, podcasts, youtube, kdramas, anime, singing/playing violin, makeup (featuring lots of glitter), making workshops, and being a clown

Tell us about yourself: Hey, y’all! I’m Claire (she/her/hers), and I was born in South Carolina to an immigrant mother from Hong Kong/Fujian, a grandson-of-immigrants Jewish father, and my older brother. Being a multi-minority has always driven me to find a home base of people with whom I share values, culture, and food, as well as to find a way to bridge any gaps. I love doing any of my aforementioned hobbies, as well as crafting, listening to kpop, making “bad” jokes, and drinking too much coffee. You can usually find me studying :’) or around the community. Feel free to reach out to me, or to say hi! If you don’t know what to say, ask me about the time my skin turned green for two weeks, or when I broke my wrist in elementary school – they are somewhat amusing, I promise.

Atharva Gawde, he/him/his, PAAC Co-Chair

4th Year, Bioengineering, Clifton Park, NY

Hobbies: I like playing sports, especially basketball and soccer (too cold to do that now which is sad but…), reading, playing video games, playing guitar

Tell us about yourself: Hi everyone I’m Atharva (Uh-thir-vuh), I use he/him pronouns and I’m what my elementary school teachers called, “a pleasure to have in class”. When in Boston I spend a lot of my time off class wandering around Boston; I’ve gone all over the city but my favorite place is still the Boston Public Library. I’ve liked reading since I was young and the many nooks to chill in with a good book have cemented it as one of my favorite places in Boston. Generally speaking though, most of my time is spent at different clubs, from PAAC orgs to NU breakers, the breakdancing club on campus. Being able to do so many different things is both something I cherish and a major part of who I am as a person. Hope you have a good day.

Lawrence (Larry) Deng, he/him/his, AASIA Co-Chair

2nd Year, Biology, Long Valley, NJ

Hobbies: Cooking, Piano, Guitar, Leatherworking, Videogames, Exercising, Photography

Tell us about yourself: Hey everyone! My name is Larry Deng, and I’m a biology major from New Jersey. If I had to describe myself, I’d say that I’m a tinkerer by nature and incredibly curious. I’ve had a lot of passion projects over the years. From learning how to work with leather to make my own bags and wallets, to planning out my future electric skateboard, I enjoy learning new skills and making things with my own two hands. I’m definitely a nerd at heart, and I appreciate deep conversations on just about any topic. Looking forward, I hope to apply to medical school and find a suitable co-op for the coming semester. I look forward to meeting everyone who’s part of Team 442 this year, as well as getting to know the new and existing members of AASIA, PAAC, and NU GOAL better through this position.

Xin Xin (Elaine) Mei, she/her/hers, AASIA Co-Chair

5th Year, Health Science, Boston, MA

Hobbies: Dancing, coloring, watching TV, spending too much money on food and bubble tea/coffee

Tell us about yourself: Hi, I’m Elaine! I am a fifth year Health Science major from Boston, Massachusetts. I am a daughter to loving Chinese parents, a younger sister, a friend, a mentor, a future dog and cat mom, and sometimes a bit of a mess. In my free time, you can find me attending various PAAC events, dancing with Eon Dance Troupe, checking in with my fams, watching Asian dramas, having deep conversations about the sense of self and alternative universes, and laughing at chonky animal videos. Like my parents, my love language comes in the form of food, so I am always up for spontaneous outings and to share love through good food and conversations.

Melissa (Mel) Ea, she/her/hers, NUGOAL Co-Chair

1st Year, Nursing, Providence, RI

Hobbies: trying out different Mexican restaurants, thrifting, going to the beach, playing tennis

Tell us about yourself: Hi everyone I’m Mel! I’m a first year nursing student from Providence, Rhode Island and I love to meet new people and try out different pizza and TexMex places!!! I’m a very outgoing socialite so I thrive off of being able to talk to friends and hang out with them when safe. I try my best to be semi-active by going to the gym or for a quick run and I like to start my mornings off with a quick meditation! If I’m not out thrifting, shopping, and exploring the city, I’m probably watching Netflix (I just finished Legend of Korra so I’m emotional now). When I’m home, I like to go to the beach (since we’re the Ocean State) and watch the sunset and explore the coast (this is basically what my summer consisted of). I also love being a Rhode Island tour guide 🙂

Megha Prasad, she/her/hers, NUGOAL Co-Chair

3rd Year, Political Science & Business Administration, Lexington, MA

Hobbies: Crocheting, cooking, & going on walks. I’m kind of an old lady like that but I’m also a sucker for reality TV.

Tell us about yourself: Hi I’m Megha! I am a third year studying Political Science & Business. I’m from Lexington, MA (so pretty close to NU) and I’ve really enjoyed being in Boston and exploring the city. When I’m not on campus, I like to explore new State Parks in MA, although my favorite has always been Walden Pond. During summer 2020 I learned how to amigurumi crochet and also explored my culinary talent (or lack thereof) through TikTok recipes!
