Blog #2 – Anime/Cartoon Character

To be fairly honest, the only anime I’ve ever watched is Your Name which was when I was in 7th or 8th grade. (I’m also not even sure if this is categorized as anime but I’m taking my best guess). But on the other hand, I loved both watching (Fishhooks, Phineas and Ferb, Gravity Falls, The Fairly Odd Parents) and reading cartoons (BabymouseCaptain Underpants, Garfield, Diary of a Wimpy Kid (not the movie), The Baby Sitters Club). My sister and I used to beg our parents to buy us the (never-ending) sequel to Diary of a Wimpy Kid whenever we went to Barnes and Noble. Funny enough, I think we had the full series up until 2014 or so. I feel as if reading and watching cartoons helped me assimilate American culture when I was learning English in Korea. Also I could convince myself that I read a full book after reading three volumes of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, which was a plus.

If there’s one cartoon character I could meet out of all of these great, aspiring individuals/animals that made up such an essential part of my childhood, it would definitely be Garfield. The foremost reason is because I’m especially curious about what his voice sounds like. (I imagine a bit of a raspy yet high-pitched voice) I also want to try talking to a cat, and the fact that Garfield has so much character adds onto why I want to speak to THIS cat in particular. We could sit down for lasagna on a Monday afternoon and maybe talk about why he hates Odie so much.
